The Age of WEI Business

At fist time when social media came out, it was a tool for people to make friends on line and share their lives. As the time goes by, the usage of social media software is far more than a communication tool.

Wechat is one of the popular software in China, people can upload photos and put words on it but no one can see it except their friends. It is a significant difference from traditional social media that Wechat is not so open, only who we know can share our moments. People could reduce vigilance on Wechat because their viewers do have real relationships with them. Then a new business mode comes out named WEI Business which sells products on Wechat. People trust WEI Business more than Taobao or Jingdong because they are friends. Sellers are also happy for no cost to rent a shop or any deposit and duty. One of my friends has selling slimming products for a year and now her revenue per month reached 100,000.

Some people say it is the age of WEI Business since the low requirement. Everyone can do his own business with just a smart phone. But it still needs keen insight and flexible mind for detecting business opportunities in order to get success.

We All Affect Each Other

Once we had the social media analytic class, professor told us that she would ask a question in the class and wanted us to answer 'C is the answer' to cooperate with her when few students hadn't arrived at the classroom. The question was very simple which is to compare the length of three lines to the reference line and find the same one as the reference. Although it is obviously that line B had the same length, we all said that C was the correct answer as professor told us. Then professor asked the students who reached classroom later about their answer. They looked confused and didn't know what's wrong with all of us. Then some of them started to change their mind to meet our answer while others still thought B is the most likely line but doubted about themselves's perception. This is a very interesting quiz to show the phenomenon that people all affect each other. People are scared to be weird, so popular opinions influence our own cognitions seriously. Popular trends vary from year to year, people pursue them because they come from famous experts in each fields. It is safe and easy to be same. There is a common sense that the more people claim the higher probability to be truth. We have to hold similar cognition to insure getting along with others well. It seems that the simplest way to adapt to society is being similar to  main stream.

Content Analysis

Having been a netizen for about 12 years, I feel the Internet has little change except relevant recommendation, which is supported by content analysis technology.

Content analysis is used to select keywords that we type on the Internet by the search and E-commerce company like Baidu and Taobao, so that they can recommend the relevant things to us. It really make a difference and become popular soon, especially in the area of online shopping. When we search the things we want to buy, all the relevant products come out on each side of the webpage, which is very convenient.

But sometimes, it disturbs us because of invasion of privacy. Firstly, websites know what we have bought and would not remove the records. Secondly, if the computer is in public, our private information would easily be detected by others who use the computer after us.

SNS From Computer To Mobile Phone

It is a new social phenomenon that people usually look at their phones when they are on the train, at the table or waiting for something. Even they are gathering with family and friends, it is so common that everyone holds his phone and check some social networks rather than talk with each other.

Although several years ago we can hardly find people rely on phones such seriously. It is mainly because the rapid development of social network software in addition to the progress of communication technology. In the past few years, most of SNS can only operate on the computer. With few advanced social network sites had applications, people have to reach a computer to update their blog and comment on others.

Nowadays we are able to read news, check emails, write blogs and visit friends' website wherever we want as well as having a smart phone installed with such apps and internet available. People can show their life to others through SNS as soon as something is happening such as eating a delicious dinner, watching a wonderful movie or just successfully buy an iphone6. They also obtain the feedback from others very quickly which is benifit for promoting relationships. But if we all active on line but busy looking at phones when we meet each other, is it really good for social development?
